Referral Appointment

Primary Care Genetics is a specialty genetics practice. A valid referral - in the names of both partners where a couple is referred - is required for a consultation. Where a child is referred this should be specified. Where this is obtained from a GP it is valid for 12 months. Specialist referrals are valid for 3 months from the date of the initial (genetics) consultation.

 
Consultations are typically 1 hour in duration and a detailed report is sent to the referring doctor and the consultants. The report outlines the key points of the consultation and is written to provide information for all parties.
 
Fees
The cost of a consultation is $340, payable at the time of consultation, with the Medicare rebate being $207. The partner is bulk-billed.

Subsequent consultations are $150 with a Medicare rebate of $100.
 
Telephone consultation
Telephone consultation is available for regional, interstate and overseas clients. There is no Medicare rebate assigned to by the HIC to such consultations. The cost is typically ~$200 for a comprehensive consultation.
